As mentioned earlier (https://www.thedodgybrothers.com/start-the-boats/), no one expected the LNP to win the 2019 election, especially the LNP. To prepare for their impending loss they laid a few booby traps for the incoming Labor government. Unfortunately (for the LNP), these traps backfired.
The visit by three Chinese Warships was one of those booby traps. On June 3rd (the week of the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre) the Chinese warships sailed into Sydney Harbour and docked for a few days. Apparently no one was expecting them, including the NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian and the Defence Minister, Linda Reynolds. Scott Morrison knew of course. The question is – why didn’t he tell anyone? Was it because he wasn’t expecting to be in power?
Now foreign warships don’t just sail into another country. These things are requested and approved many months in advance. The PM and members of the government knew but didn’t tell anyone. It would have been an embarrassing surprise for an incoming Labor government but instead turned into another stuff up by the LNP.
