Here’s $500,000 – shoot this

Bridget Mc Kenzie is a keen shooter, so is her former National Party colleague Nigel Scullion. Shortly before the last election Mc Kenzie granted Nigel’s Shooting club $500,000 of taxpayers’ money for upgrades of their facilities. Scullion is a longtime member of the NT Field and Game Association.

It’s understood that the club’s application for the grant was initially given a low score of 60 out of 100 by Sport Australia, well below the 74-point cut-off identified by the auditor-general as necessary for projects to be awarded money. So why did they get the money?? We’ll probably never find out.

This was just one of a number of shooting clubs to share in $1m worth of funds allocated during the Sports Rort Scandal.  She also spent more than $160,000 commissioning a report into the economic and social impacts of recreational hunting and shooting!!!
