Hello World

Basically, the Finance Minister forgot someone else paid for his family’s holiday. The holiday cost almost $3,000 and was paid for by Helloworld Travel. This happened just weeks after the company won a large government travel contract (from Cormann’s department) but that’s got nothing to do with this story.

The Finance Minister was quick to repay the costs, once the media started asking him questions.

Other totally unrelated things – the CEO of Helloworld, Andrew Burns, is also the Treasurer of the Liberal Party (worth up to $300m).

But wait, there’s more. Joe Hockey, apparently, asked US embassy staff to meet with Helloworld, with which he has close ties, prior to it lobbying the department for government work.  Yes, Joe is a major shareholder in Helloworld.
